8. Red Muscle and Endurance

Sustained posture and prolonged movement depend importantly on fatigue-resistant oxidative muscle function, including Type I fibers—the so-called red muscle fibers.

I do not mean that “inner muscle” and “red muscle” are anatomically identical.

They are not.

But functionally, I see an important connection:

supporting, stabilizing, connecting, and continuing.

These qualities are very different from producing maximal explosive force for a few seconds.

And they require a different kind of training stimulus.

Not a strong, intense stimulus, but a gentle, low-intensity stimulus sustained over time.

In my view, it is precisely this gentle, sustained stimulus that is essential for developing the true endurance foundation of red muscle.

Next time, I’ll explain why this is so, using data from CPX (cardiopulmonary exercise testing).

Walking is therefore not merely movement of the legs.
It is: a continuous whole-body movement organized around a central axis.

正しくは、
歩行とは単なる脚の運動ではない。
それは、中心軸を中心として組織された、連続的な全身運動である。
